Dungeon Defenders 2 closed beta has begun and this time the game is something of a new breed all together. Trendy entertainment has added the MOBA element. Much like League of Legends or DOTA2 DD2 is free-to-play and two 5 player teams will fight through A.I. enemies and attempt to destroy one another’s base.
“During the development of Dungeon Defenders we constantly tried different multiplayer modes. Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, you name it,” said the official DD2 FAQ. “None of them really fit. When planning the sequel, we couldn’t drop the idea that a MOBA in the Dungeon Defenders universe would rock. Maybe it was all the after hour games of League we played in the office. We don’t know. But it fit well into the storyline and achieved a core goal of helping Dungeon Defenders players meet new players, so we went all in.”
If you want to get in you can sign up at the official site. DD2 is being developed for the PC, Mac, Android, iOS and web. Cross-platform play will be available in the beta as well. The co-op mode is still in pre-alpha so the closed beta only consists of competitive multiplayer. If your headed to PAX East this weekend you will be able to play it there as well.
