Destiny Beta Now Open to Everyone

The Destiny beta began only last week for PlayStation users and just a couple of days ago for Xbox. People who pre-ordered the game were given 3 Destiny beta codes each to use and hand out to friends. This was quite possibly one of the easiest betas to take part in so if you managed to not get a beta key from some one then you’re in luck. If you have PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live just head to the store of your console of choice to download the 11GB Destiny beta.

Over the next two days there’s and Iron Banner event you can take part in at these times (Pacific Time):

Friday, July 25th
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
7:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Saturday, July 26th
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
7:00 PM – 9:00 PM

If you play on Saturday July 26th starting at 2PM PDT you can earn a special item stated in the Destiny Beta FAQ:

Q. Do I get something cool for playing the Destiny Beta?

Yup! Play the Destiny Beta on Saturday, July 26th, beginning at 2PM PDT, to earn an exclusive emblem for the retail version of Destiny. We’ll also be delivering some fun and unexpected surprises throughout the Beta!

I already took part in the PS4 version of the Destiny beta this past week and can tell you if you’re a shooter/mmo fan you will be right at home. In my experience the game ran smooth at 1080p with no noticeable lag or frame skipping in fact it played like a finished game. There is a cap at level 8 and you and only run a handful of missions but you get a good feel to the size and scope of the game. It was an enjoyable experience and I look forward to its launch so go try it for yourself and let us know in the comments what you think.

As an added bonus I embeded a video of PlayStation MVP Mercenary09 walking you through five golden chest locations so you can get them all to unlock the S-20 Seeker vehicle which is a faster stronger version of the default Sparrow everyone is given.
