Valve Half-Life 2 Beta Adds Linux Support

Valve has just seemed to embrace Linux wholeheartedly lately. I love to see them keep pushing forward into previously almost non supported platforms. There new edition to Linux is the Half-Life 2 family which includes Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode 1, Half-Life 2: Episode 2 and Half-Life 2: LostCoast. These titles may seem a little old to some of us but they are in beta again to add Linux support and convert the game to the new Steam Content delivery system.

This beta involves significant changes for all platforms and your testing is appreciated, please report any bugs to our GitHub page, https://github.com/ValveSoftware/source-1-games/issues.

This beta isn’t just limited to Linux but rather its for all platforms Windows and OS X alike. If you have a Windows or OS X and do not wish to participate in the beta then good guy Valve gives you the option to opt out.

Linux users can simply install the games access the beta. For Windows and OS X users right click the game in your Library, choose properties and then go to the Beta tab. Select the SteamPipe beta to start testing. Under Windows and OS X to opt out of testing simply deselect the beta option on this same page.
