Watch Dogs Sets New Sales Records

Earlier today, Watch Dogs publisher Ubisoft announced that the title has broken both Ubisoft and industry-wide sales records. With more than four million units sold-through to customers in just a week, Watch Dogs positions itself as the best-selling new IP (industry-wide, based on NPD, GFK, and internal estimates), and best-selling game ever in week one for Ubisoft.

Additionally, over one million people have downloaded and played the game’s mobile companion app. ctOS Mobile allows users to connect to the Watch Dogs universe from anywhere in the world and provides a great supplementary or stand-alone experience on the go.

If you’re enjoying Watch Dogs, you’ll be happy to know that a sequel is all but guaranteed. Ubisoft has a history of turning their new IP into franchises, and senior VP of sales and marketing Tony Key had this to say about the future of Watch Dogs as a brand:

With such strong sales momentum and positive feedback from gamers, Watch Dogs has positioned itself as the must-have game of the moment. We’re really proud of this achievement, and are confident that the Watch Dogs brand has a promising future.

Watch Dogs is also scheduled to be released for the Wii U later this fall. This is a great game, so if you haven’t already, why not order a copy now?

About Michael Evans

I've been a gamer for as long as I can remember. Waking up early just to play some Super Mario Bros 3 before school fostered a passion for video gaming that never faded. I enjoy all genres, but hold a special place in my heart for nice long RPGs with engaging stories and deep character customization.
